There's plenty of streaming videos to choose from in here, so click on the section that corresponds with your interest. At present most our videos online are in Windows Media format, which give great video and audio quality at moderate bandwidths. However we do also have Flash versions of some of our movies, as the Flash video format is becoming increasingly popular, and the latest video codec for Flash 8 player and higher (the On2 codec), has seen a great jump in image quality over previous Flash video. Flash video is also extremely intergrate inside webpages, and offers many options for delivering video content. Windows media player can also be 'embedded', so that the video plays from within your webpage, although for the purposes here we offer them as standard hyperlinks, meaining that they automatically open in the 3rd party media player. This does carry some advantages, in that they can be downloaded, and the links can be added to virtually anything (including emails) with little fuss.

NON-PROFIT ORGANISATIONS

TELEVISION COMMERCIALS
We have produced many DVDs and interactive CD-ROMs for non-profit organisations, including Relationships Australia, CPAWA, Legal Aid, UWA, the Law society of Western Australia and many other organisations. The duration of these videos can range between short punchy 5 minute promotionals to full blown 90 minute documentaries, and the length of production can range from just days to over 6 months.

Here's a series of 30 second TVCs we did for the RSPCA for their "adopt a pet" campaign. Filmed on an extremely low budget, with non-trained animals (a real challenge for any director!), these commercials were a great success and screened nationally on all commercial Australian networks.

Please forgive the image and audio quality of these versions, as they were encoded from an old dub tape.

birthday video

Sometimes we are requested to produce these videos, where we take existing photographs and create animated movies from them, telling a story in pictures. In this example, we were given old photographs and told to create a memorable "through the years journey" for two brothers who both turned 70 years of age. This was delivered on DVD.

This technique of using still photographs has great applications beyond this simple personal use. It's also a great way of producing a "movie" for your website without the expense of video production, by drawing upon existing still photographs and then adding motion, voice-over and music. Also, when animated in Flash for the web, file sizes can be greatly compressed, allowing fast viewing and downloading.

fun video

It's not all serious money-making video stuff at AURA! We do have a history of making films and video that range from the decidedly "arty" to the downright silly! Much of these works come from the archives, and include student productions, independant films for festivals and work for theatre productions utilising projected film as critical elements within the production. In other words, these are projects made primarily for love, not profit. Here's just a small selection if you've got the time and the inclination.

Allowance should be made for relative image and audio quality, as much of the material has been dubbed from 16mm and 8mm film (Yes, that stuff that people shot on before digital video was invented!).
